PRESENTING

CHAIR YOGA FOR EVERY BODY

PEOPLE LIVING WITH MOBILITY ISSUES

If you shouldn’t (or aren’t able to) get up from and down to the floor unassisted, chair yoga provides the benefits of moving your joints and stretching your muscles without the stress of supporting your body weight. This provides relief for stiff muscles and makes it easier to move and mobilize your joints during everyday life.

PEOPLE RECOVERING FROM (OR LIVING WITH) INJURY

If you are recovering from surgery or living with the aftermath of an injury, chair yoga helps you keep an injured area stable while moving and working the rest of your body, providing the opportunity to safely build and maintain strength and flexibility during recovery. And beyond.

OLDER ADULTS

If you want consistent movement in your life, the adaptive movements of chair yoga keeps muscles and joints active and healthy by providing stability and support. It also reduces symptoms of anxiety and depression, fostering improvement in mood and feelings of well-being. Chair yoga elevates your health and vitality.

Hi! I’m Frannie.

I completed my 200-hr Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) to share the benefits of accessible slow mindful yoga with others. I believe yoga is for every BODY – you need not be “flexible enough” or “strong enough” or “meditative enough” – every BODY is ENOUGH!

Chair yoga is for anyone with mobility issues, whatever the reason. The majority of my clients are 65+, but chair yoga is suitable for anyone not able to get up from (or down to) the floor – maybe due to an injury, illness, or the natural aging process. It is also a great complement to more active forms of movement (like walking), allowing a person to engage in movement daily!

My classes are beneficial, engaging, fun, calming, AND energizing. For each class, I create a series of movements that are accessible and that help people keep their joints lubricated and active. I look forward to helping you (or your loved one) to move more and feel better in mind and body.

WHAT THEY SAY

I feel wonderful taking Frannie’s classes – just looking at her smiling face and knowing that if I have any questions or concerns, she will spend time answering them. After class I feel energized and always leave with a smile on my face! I wholeheartedly recommend Frannie – she is fun to be with and I always look forward to her classes.
TERRI GLASGOW

Resident Birmingham, Alabama

Frannie is an outstanding example of kindness and calm and for two years has offered the residents of Episcopal Place the chance to remove themselves from the worries of old age, the news, and aches & pains for an hour each week. Their time with her is a time of relaxation, reflection, power, and encouragement. To quote some of her students: “Frannie is a joy to be around!” “Patient, outgoing, and kind.” “I’m standing better without my cane and my balance is better.” We’re grateful to have Frannie among us.

JAN HUNTER

Activities Director, Episcopal Place

Frannie provides a yoga environment in which I feel challenged, yet very supported. My mind is able to relax as my body is stretched and my joints are opened. When I leave Frannie’s class I feel peaceful and strong.
